Advocacy is about opening doors to opportunities and choices. It is about spending time with someone, finding out what they want and helping them achieve it. An advocate is an ordinary person but not an ordinary volunteer.
You do not need any formal qualifications just the right attitude!
You can help to support a person with learning disabilities, enabling their voice to be heard, allowing them to share the same human rights as everyone else.
ACE works with people, who live in Suffolk and who use Learning Disability Services. Sometimes we are contacted by people themselves, sometimes carers or relatives contact us. We only get involved if the person wants us to.
There are all kind of different volunteering opportunities at ACE
